Today is a Good Day…To Have a Good Day

Today is a good day

Claiming today as a good day is a practice. This morning I was sitting out on my fire escape sipping tea staring out at my beautiful flowers as I listened to the birds sing their songs.   Ok, let me be more honest with you…..my mind was a bit more consumed with a situation that occurred that my monkey was having a hard time releasing. And so I touched my phone…isn’t that what we always do when the monkey mind starts hopping and we are tired of listening to it’s rants????

And then the Universe came in with a big smile and laughter filled my body.

My finger touched Pandora and a song started playing.  Not just any song but this song…

Oh Michael Frante….you always know how to say it in such a way that it cuts through the BS and gets us to come into the very reason we are all alive.

“Oh why does everybody need to be so divided?

Why does everybody  got to hate each other, who decided?”

Hmmmm very good question. A question that has been on my mind for some time now.  We are surrounded by so much aggression these days.  For us sensitives, it makes burying yourself into hole that is your home WAY more inviting than being out in the world.

If I took all the world’s pride and all the world’s money, wrapped it in a blanket and put it in a buggy, could you see that maybe that baby was just the same as you are?”

Ooooo YOU DIDN’T!!!!!   The statement that no one wants to deal with.  The statement that points us in the direction of our heart rather than our ego.  The statement that shows us that we are no better or worse than anyone else.  The statement that shows us that we are all just souls in human bodies walking this physical plane interacting with each other and playing out the drama that is our current world’s crisis.

So while this issue is not the issue my monkey was occupied with this morning, I can say it is an issue that is upfront for me on a regular basis.  I am a person who believes that we are all deeply connected on a soul level.  Those that agree and disagree are all deeply intertwined at the level of soul.  When we engage in the divide and see people as the other (termed “othering”) what we are not doing is looking at ourselves.

BAM! AND THERE IT IS.

Yes, I said it.  Pointing the finger and othering means that you are displacing your issues onto others and taking out your unresolved issues through self righteous behavior.  When we are engaged in self righteous thinking, we are disconnected from our heart and soul.

This goes for all of us.  And this pattern can be deep seated or it can be right on the surface.  But we all deal with it on some level. Because we all have ego and the ego LOVES to be right.  The ego loves to play the victim of circumstances.  The ego LOVES to make others feel badly about themselves because it’s the way the ego reinforces that it is…yes… RIGHT!!

And what is not occurring when all of this is going on????

HAPPINESS.

HAPPINESS DOES NOT EXIST IN A MIND THAT IS SELF RIGHTEOUS.

HAPPINESS ONLY EXISTS AT A HEART AND SOUL LEVEL

So back to Michael Frante….

“You know it’s never been easy.  Everyday for everybody ain’t breezy. But I hope when you look into another person’s eyes you know that TODAY WOULD BE A VERY GOOD DAY TO HAVE A GOOD DAY.”

So when we are consumed with either ego or wrapped up in our reactive emotions either imploding or exploding, what we are not doing is HAVING A GOOD DAY!!!!!!!  LOL

And isn’t it just that that we would all LOVE to be doing?

Dr. Joe Dispenza’s work focuses on being that of which you would like to become.  His explains the Universe and spirituality utilizing quantum physics.  On his website he has this quote…

When we stop doubting, we start believing in our new life.  We behave as if it’s possible and ultimately we become it.”

As I write this a soft smile comes upon my face as my mind goes back to the fire escape and me with my thoughts this morning.  This sums it all up.  What we believe is who we are.   The more fixated we are in believing that life sucks or that something we want is not possible the more correct you become in your estimation of your life.  It’s only when we step outside of ourselves that we can begin to see that everything is possible, if we only allow it to be.

Soooo….

“You know today would be a very good day just to have a good day. You know today would just be a good day to have a good day. With a little more love and a little more laughter, more good vibes, less disaster.  Today would be a good day to have a good day…

ALL DAY LOOOOONG.  ALL DAY LOOOONG!”

You may be thinking…yea would love to do that but HOW?!   Well Dispenza speaks about choosing to have a day that is good before your feet even land on the floor when you get out of bed.  Often we grab for our phones before getting out of bed to check for what fires are up in flames that we need to put out.  This occurs automatically (I know, sheepishly I can say I do it too.)

And yet. And yet. We have choice.  We have choice in how we choose to live. We have choice in whether we engage in self righteous thoughts and behaviors.

We have choice in just about everything we do internally and externally.  The foods we eat, where we buy that food, is all within our control.  Who we choose to spend our time with.  What content we choose to consume on the internet, how long we choose to consume it and what we decide to do with it.

IT’S ALL WITHIN OUR CHOICE TO CHOOSE OR NOT TO CHOOSE.

So you may be wondering what I did when my phone started playing this song.  Well of course,  I did what I always do….I smiled, laughed literally out loud and danced while finishing my tea listening to Michael Frante jam.

I say hey, hey put all my troubles aside, and I say hey, hey

THANK GOD THAT WE ARE ALIVE.

TODAY IS A VERY GOOD DAY TO HAVE A GOOD DAY, ALL DAY LONG!”

So here I am.  Has today been a good day all day long?  Not exactly, but I have chosen to focus on the parts that make me smile.  The joys, the laughter, the goods times and yes less disaster.

Cheers to having a good day all day long!!!!

Much love as you dance through the disasters finding the joys wherever you can!
